I’ve always been told to be proud of who I am
Don’t change for anyone, they said
Every day I woke up feeling out of place
Couldn’t see how I could fit in

Now, waking up I feel great being me
Hearing you say all the right things
Bringing me up, when feeling down
Making me love the days

Still even though I know it’s wrong
I’m now the one who hopes you’ll change
And even though I try so hard
I can’t make it go away
